Editions and Copyright Information

The edition of KOJIKI inserted on JHTI is taken from the Teisei Kokun Kojiki (3 volumes; Kyoto, 1803) printed by Kawanami Gihei et al. A copy of this edition is in the Mitsui Bunko collection held by the East Asian Library in Berkeley. Two versions of this edition have been inserted on JHTI: (1) photographs of each page written by brush and ink, (2) copies of each paragraph printed in modern Japanese characters.

The English translation of the KOJIKI inserted on JHTI is KOJIKI: Translated with an Introduction and Notes by DONALD L. PHILIPPI (Princeton University Press and University of Tokyo Press, 1969). Permission to publish this translation electronically was granted by an agreement signed by officials of the University of Tokyo Press and the University of California in 2003.

Each page or paragraph of each version of the KOJIKI is cross-tagged with the corresponding paragraph or page of the other two. This makes it possible for the user to see ON THE SAME SCREEN those paragraphs of pages containing the word or passage being studied.
